Journey to the top
Born in Teshie, Accra, Joseph Anang moved to England as a teenager and came through West Ham United''s academy, where he represented England at under-20 level before later switching allegiance to Ghana. His career included loan spells at Stevenage, St Patrick''s Athletic, and Derby County, before he joined St Pat''s permanently in 2024, where he has made over 100 appearances and established himself as one of the League of Ireland''s standout goalkeepers. He won his first and, prior to the World Cup, only Ghana cap in a November 2025 friendly against Japan. His selection for the 26-man squad marks a landmark moment — the first World Cup call-up for a League of Ireland-based player.
